Powered by Curiosity

I’ve always been a curious person, and while “curiosity kills the cat” has sometimes felt true, it has been because of anxiety and overthinking. However, that never stopped me from exploring, learning, and creating!

I remember being in the back of my 2nd-grade class and realizing that I could search up anything I wanted on this source called the internet. To this day, I’ll go on deep dives into celebrity stories/drama, entertainment, politics, and most importantly for me, sports. I also recall telling my family and friends everything I read (good or bad), and that’s how the perception for the next search was built.

Driven by Story

While in high school, I noticed that my school was perceived negatively in the media, despite the many wonderful things happening in the halls, especially in athletics. It was rare for us to produce D1 collegiate athletes (not because we didn’t have the talent, we did!), and I couldn’t help but wonder if it was because of our negative reputation and small town.

As a high school athlete myself, I became deeply interested in figuring out the “why”: why were things not happening for our school, like they were at the other school down the road? Ironically enough, after talking to my principal about creating an athletics social media account (in which he said no), I came across a TikTok of a woman doing a “Day in my life” in Sports PR for the Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium. And because I’m a curious body, I went on a deep dive into not only her, but also the position she held, and found out that THAT was my dream job. Public Relations is a career I was called to do, and every day I’m excited to work towards that dream.

So maybe, after all, the saying does not ALWAYS ring true: curiosity didn’t kill this cat, but shape
